What is Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is one of the hot topics in the tech industry. But for the common people, it is new. They have only seen it in the movies. Artificial intelligence came to the sight of people since the launch of Siri in iPhones. It was the first artificial intelligence program that people can directly interact with. It gave people an idea what really is Artificial Intelligence.

Although many people have used Siri, played a lot games build around Artificial Intelligence but they are still unaware about the potential of it.
To understand what really is Artificial Intelligence is we will first look at its definition:

Artificial intelligence is the intelligence exhibited by the machines.

Well, that’s a very neat and clean definition, it’s from wikipedia.

But that definition is not sufficient to understand what is Artificially Intelligence. So, now we are gonna apply the most powerful method to understand what really is Artificial Intelligence and the method is Divide and conquer.

Artificial: Artificial is something, which is not natural or we can say which is developed or produced by humans as a copy of some natural thing or behavior.

Intelligence: Intelligence is the ability to acquire knowledge and skills and apply it to solve some problem. Further more it can be described as the ability to reason, adapt to situation, thinking logically, solving mathematical problems.

Since machines are made by humans and only perform the task which they are programmed to do. Therefore if a machine is doing something which they are programmed to do, then that machine is not intelligent, they can be efficient but not intelligent.

Intelligent machine is something which learns things on its own. You don’t have to explicitly program them to make them perform some particular task, you just have to provide them enough information so that they can learn it by themselves or they may even do this by their own.

When machine can learn on its own then it is called Machine learning. Machine learning is a sub-field of computer science. It is the most important part of Artificial Intelligence. There is a lot of research is going on in this field. It is backbone of artificial intelligence.

Uses of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is now a days used in all areas to make the work more efficient and fast. Some of those applications are:

  • Search engines
  • Video games
  • For decision-making in enterprises
  • For parsing huge amount of data
  • Solving difficult math equations
  • In hospitals and medicines
  • In stock market
  • Mobiles
  • Social networking site
  • In automobile industry

There are a lot of research is going on in this field and billions of dollars are invested. This sub-field of computer science is still young and has a lot things to see in future.

History of Artificial Intelligence (year-wise)

Year Occurrence 1847 George Boole published a paper on symbolic logic called The Mathematical Analysis of Logic. 1879 Gottlob Frege produced a logic that, except for some notational changes, forms the first-order logic that is used today as the most basic knowledge representation system. 1900 David Hilbert presented a list of 23 problems that he correctly predicted would occupy mathematicians for the bulk of century. 1930 Kurt Godel showed that there exist an effective procedure to prove any true statement in the first-order logic of Frege-Russell. 1931 Kurt Godel showed that real limits do exist. His incompleteness theorem showed that in any language expressive to describe the properties of the natural numbers, there are true statements that are undecidable: their truth cannot be established by any algorithm. 1940 Alan Turing’s team built the first operational modern computer “Heath Robinson” to decipher the German messages. 1941 Konard Zuse invented Z-3, the first operational p...

Official: Twitter adds tweets from people you don't follow on your timeline

About a couple of weeks ago twitter experimented to show the tweets from the people whom your friend follows, which most of the people didn't like but now the  micro blogging site twitter made it official and it will now even show you the tweets on your timeline from the people who are not in your follow list. Twitter made it clear on the support page that the tweets that will be trending or relevant to you then it may be shown to your timeline in order to keep your interest up and to discover new people and brands. Twitter added a new point on their support page in "What's a twitter timeline?"  about the tweets from the people you don't follow: Additionally, when we identify a Tweet, an account to follow, or other content that's popular or relevant, we may add it to your timeline. This means you will sometimes see Tweets from accounts you don't follow. We select each Tweet using a variety of signals, including how popular it is and how people in yo...

5 Steps to become a good C PROGRAMMER

If you want to become a good C programmer whether you are a beginner or know C programming and want to excel at it, this post will guide you to become a better C programmer. However, you have to be patient and consistent while learning C, it is not like that you will become a good programmer over night, it takes time to be good at C or at any programming language. However, learning the basic of C is easy, but becoming its master takes years of practice and hard work. So, my first advice will be "never give up". Learn C through books: This may sound funny to some people that in the time of online learning why we should read a whole god damn book, But believe me nothing can explain the basics or fundamentals of the C than a book. So, now the question is which book should you read. The best book for the beginner will be the Let Us C by Yashwant Kanetkar. This book covers all the fundamentals of the C and gives you insights of the language. While reading this book please d...
