SAVE THE INTERNET is the group of individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations led by the Free Press for the preservation of the Network Neutrality.
NETWORK NEUTRALITY: Network neutrality or net neutrality is the principle that the internet service providers should allow the access to all the contents and applications of the web regardless of the source, and without favouring and blocking the particular product or website.
When it all started??
Save the internet was launched in April 2006 to bring the net neutrality for everyone. When the Save The Internet is launched it gave the idea to protect the net neutrality by the "First Amendment" of internet.As First Amendment to the United States Constitution it gives the protection of freedom of speech and the press, so proposing Internet First Amendment will protect the net neutrality, which will allow equal access to each website.
What is the matter now??
FCC(Federal Communications Commission) chairman Tom Wheeler on May 2014 launched a plan that would have allowed the local operator companies to control people from accessing the website on the internet and create pay-to-play fast lanes.
People protested and later this proposal is dropped by the Wheeler. But on Feb 4, 2015 he announced that he would base the new neutrality rules on the Title II of the Communications Act. FCC approved Wheeler's proposal on Feb 26,2015.
Why Fight??
If the Title II is implemented then there will not be an Open Internet, operators will have the right to block any website for there user. It will watershed the victory of the activists who had fought for decades.
