Restoring means deleting all the data in iPhone and reverting it back to the factory settings to give it a fresh start. If your iPhone's firmware is damaged then also you can restore it to the factory settings. Also if you have jailbroken your iPhone and now you want to use it without jailbreak then you can restore it.
iPhone is in working condition but you want it to give a fresh start[Not jailbroke]
Through iTunes
Note:- (1) You must have the latest version of iTunes installed.
(2) Internet connection is required to restore the iPhone.
(3) Keep your phone's charging at least 75%

- Connect your iPhone to the computer which has iTunes installed.
- Your iPhone will be automatically detected by the iTunes and all the details of iPhone will be shown.
- We recommend you to back up the data in your iPhone to the iTunes(to take back up check on This computer and press Back Up Now).
- Now to restore, click on Restore iPhone... right next to Check for Update button.
- Enter your passcode if you have any then follow the on screen instructions and wait this may take several minute to complete.
- [PRECAUTION]Do not use your computer or iPhone during the process.
- After your iPhone is restored you have two options in iTunes whether to set up the iPhone as new iPhone(factory setting and no data) or you can restore the data from the computer.
From iPhone
Note:- (1) Do not try to restore jailbroken iPhone using this method
(2) Before proceeding back up all your data to your computer via iTunes or into iCloud
(3) All your data will be erased after that.
(4) Keep your phone's charging at least 75%

- Open Setting in your iPhone.
- Go to General
- Tap Reset
- Tap Erase all content and setting
- Enter passcode
- Tap Erase iPhone
- This will take a while to complete and after the completion follow the on screen instruction.
- You can restore all your data from iCloud or via iTunes(computer) if you have backed up any.
[Hard Reset]If iPhone is locked, jailbroken or not starting
Note:- (1) Install the latest version of iTunes.

(3) Keep your phone's charging at least 75%

- Open the iTunes in your computer.
- Turn the phone off and connect the one side of USB cable to your computer(while other side of cable is not connected to the iPhone)
- Now keep holding the Home button of iPhone while connecting the other side of USB cable to the iPhone.
- Wait till the iTunes detects the iPhone and then leave the Home button.
- Now the details of your iPhone will be shown on your iTunes.
- Now click on Restore iPhone... and follow the on screen instructions. Restore process will take a while.
- [PRECAUTION]Do not use your computer or iPhone during the process.
- After the process is completed you can set up your iPhone as new or can restore the data from any previous back up.
